Introduction
Lanzhou University Second Hospital (LUSH) is a Class A tertiary comprehensive hospital that integrates medical services, teaching and research. Gansu Provincial Children’s Hospital is also located in LUSH. LUSH was found in 1928 which is the earliest public hospital in Gansu. Currently, the No.2 complex building has been put into service. LUSH offers 3,500 beds, with a total construction area of 530,000 square meters and covers an area of more than 103,333 square meters.
LUSH has a long history with a profound cultural background. It has 48 disciplines, 133 clinical and medical departments, 133 sub disciplines, 98 nursing units, five National Key Clinical Specialties, 11 Provincial Key Disciplines, four Provincial Key Laboratory, two Provincial Clinical Medicine Centers, 11 Provincial Medical Quality Control Centers, and 16 National Key Training Bases.
LUSH has more than 4,500 stuffs, including 1,135 with master and doctoral degrees, 509 with senior professional titles, 13 experts obtaining the special allowance of State Council, three experts on outstanding contributions from the Ministry of Health, eight provincial excellent experts, one chief editor in the Journal of Lanzhou University (medical section), 27 Gansu leading talents, 17 experts of provincial “555 technology talents project ”, nine experts of provincial “333 technology talents project ”, two Academic Leaders of Gansu Education Department, 21 leading talents of Gansu Health System. On Academic Achievements, as The Second Clinical Medicine of Lanzhou University, it has set up 29 teaching and research sections and offers doctoral degrees in Clinical Medicine area as well as one center for post-doctoral studies. It currently has a student population of 1,500, 23 Ph.D tutors, 137 Master tutors and more than 160 Professors (Associate Professors).
Over the past 80 years, we inherited core values of LUSH, “Good virtue, perfect skill, extensive knowledge, and a persevering work”, to write down the splendid history. With the spirit of “strive for self-improvement, strive for excellence”, we will make efforts continuously to build a first-class university hospital in the new era.
